Derrick Rose was held out of the preseason finale on Friday due to his lingering ankle injury, but all indications are that he will play in the regular-season opener.

He probably could have played Friday if it counted, and he reported no soreness in his ankle Friday morning after a 40-minute practice. ”I felt good; my ankle was fine,” he said. ”Right now, I feel good about playing in the opener.” He’s not a lock to play and this injury could linger, but overall, this is good news.
