Just days after being outed for having an affair with a younger co-worker, Baseball Tonight analyst and former-Met GM Steve Phillips has been fired by ESPN.

Of course, the announcement came late on Sunday night because they thought we wouldn’t be paying attention. (They were correct!) It’s not clear what happened between Wednesday when Phillips was “granted” a leave of absence and today when the network decided he had to be canned. But even the front page of ESPN.com announced the dismissal in very understated tones.

“Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN,” network spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement. “His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.”

I’ll say. Just in case you have trouble parsing that statement, it seems he was fired not for having sex with a subordinate or sexual harassment or creating an unsafe work environment or even for cheating on his wife. He was fired for being an embarrassment to the company. That’s where the line is, in case you were wondering. Krulewitz would not comment when asked about the employment status of Brooke Hundley, the 22-year-old production assistant who slept with Phillips and then began a steady campaign of harassment toward his family. For all we know she might still be working there, but probably won’t be getting promoted anytime soon.

Ivanka Trump is getting married today and has managed to keep her 400,000 plus Twitter followers updated every step of the way. All inclusive with 140 characters of every detail surrounding her engagement a little over three months to her fiancé, Jared Kushner the publisher of the New York Observer.

The daughter of Donald Trump will wear a Vera Wang wedding gown inspired by Grace Kelly. There are expected to be 500 guests including Regis Philbin, who will be called on to sing a song at the reception. Preston Bailey is responsible for planning Ivanka’s wedding and also handled Donald and Melania Trump’s lavish wedding at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla.

While taking timeout to get married Ivanka is also promoting for publicity of her new book, The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.

Robbie Williams and the Brit awards really do go hand-in-hand.

During his heyday, the 35-year-old singer accumulated 11 gongs over the years at the UK music ceremony  – more than any other star.

So following his recent comeback, he has been chosen to receive the prize for outstanding contribution to music at this year’s event.

Referring to Robbie as “one of the outstanding artists and performers of his generation”, a Brits committee rep said it would be “an absolute thrill” to have him at the ceremony.

Organisers say he will pick up his new gong on February 16.

He will also close the show with a “sensational” live performance at London’s Earls Court.

Attending the 30th anniversary of the Brits will be the perfect way for Robbie to crown his return to the music scene.

Following his appearance on the X Factor, Robbie received widespread praise when he played his first concert in three years on Wednesday.

“Paris went to the police station [Thursday] night to retrieve her stolen belongings, she didn’t get everything but fortunately most of her jewelry was returned,” the rep said in a statement to Access. “She is really pleased and thankful to the LAPD for their help.”

As previously reported by AccessHollywood.com, Paris’ Hollywood Hills home was burglarized in December 2008, with a reported $2 million in jewelry and other items taken from the home.

When contacted by Access, an LAPD spokesperson would not comment on the burglary.

It is unknown if the December 2008 incident is linked to the rash of recent Hollywood Hills burglaries in celebrity homes, including those of Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge.

Five suspects were arrested earlier this week on felony burglary charges in connection with those incidents, following the September arrest of fellow suspect Nicholas Prugo.

A judge on Friday cleared rapper Kanye West of criminal charges following a scuffle with paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport last year, pending his completion of community service, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney said.

Grammy award-winning West, who has often captured media attention with public outbursts, and his manager were charged in March with battery, theft and vandalism following the Sept. 11, 2008 confrontation with a photographer.

West, whose hits include “Jesus Walks” and “Hey Mama,” and the manager were released on bail hours after their arrest.

The judge on Friday said the charges would be dismissed if they performed 50 community service hours, according to L.A. City Attorney’s Office spokesman Frank Mateljan. The two have already completed an anger management course, Mateljan said.

The incident rattled nerves at the airport during the seventh anniversary of the day of the Sept. 11 attacks. It was not the last time West has been in trouble for a public outburst.

British media reported in November 2008 that West, 32, was detained and released without charge after a suspected confrontation with a photographer near a nightclub in England.

He made international headlines in September when he got up on stage and interrupted an acceptance speech by Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards.

In true douchebag fashion, Jon Gosselin has made sure his lawyer makes a huge, public deal out of him returning $180,000 he was not supposed to withdraw and would have surely kept had a judge not threaten to hold him in contempt.

No one at The Hollywood Gossip has ever been arrested for dealing heroin either, Jon, but you don’t see our legal team issuing press releases bragging about it.

Jon’s lawyer, Mark Heller, says his client is now in “complete compliance” with a court order that he return $180,000 he stole from a joint account with wife Kate.

The attorney says Kate’s the one being shady and hiding funds.

“Unless something happens today [with Kate] she will be going through contempt proceedings Monday,” Heller told People, pressing the issue with Jon’s ex.

Mark Momjian, Kate’s attorney, could not be reached for comment. Kate had been ordered to account for $55,000 she withdrew for household expenses.

You know you’re a douchebag if you seek credit for things you’re supposed to do anyway. And have really bad hair plugs and delusions about your celebrity status.

Jon accused her of harboring much more than that from book royalties. Kate charged that Jon’s withdrawal left her unable to feed her kids or pay bills.

Both sides filed contempt motions against each other for allegedly violating a divorce arbitrator’s guidelines for how their joint money should be spent.

These people really suck.

Meanwhile, we knew Jon thinks highly of himself – so delusionally that he thinks his time is worth $10,000 an hour – but we weren’t aware it was this bad.

The moron is looking for new avenues to keep his bad hair plugs on the news after TLC renamed his show Kate Plus 8, then pulled the plug on it altogether.

He’s wants a spot on celeb editions of The Amazing Race or Survivor. We’re for it if CBS crews “accidentally” abandon him somewhere in the South Pacific.

Brooke Hundley, Marni Phillips, and Steve Phillips do form ESPN’s sex scandal, but there’s more to it than that. It’s the story of an abandoned, emotionally needy young woman.

Two weeks ago we had the waning story of David Letterman’s affair with his assistant Stephanie Birkitt, and I made the point that this kind of office affair is so common that some of the people complaining about David Letterman may have been involved in one themselves. In fact by one estimate almost one of every two office workers has been involved in some kind of affair or flirtation over the course of their work history.

But unlike David Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt, or even Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearey (where the LA Times weighs in with new news involving another employee) this ESPN scandal is a rather ugly one and not just because Steve Phillips is married as of this writing.

Steve Phillips is a former Major League Baseball general manager with the New York Mets who is now a well known, and is in my opinion very effective ESPN baseball analyst (now suspended) and who’s married to Marni Phillips, and has four kids, but had an affair last summer with 22-year old ESPN Production Assistant Brooke Hundley.

According to a number of blogs like Zimbio.com, Phillips tried to end the affair, but Hundley wasn’t ready for that and what follows is something out of Fatal Attraction.” (As far as I’m concerned, as a aside, Steve Phillips should be massively kicked in the ass for treating his wife like that.  At least David Letterman wasn’t married at the time of the start of his affair.)

Basically, Brooke, a 2008 graduate of Ithaca College according to her Facebook page, went off and so much so that Phillips eventually told the police “I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my kids and myself,” and said that that Brooke was “obsessive and delusional” after he tried to end the affair.

Brooke wrote a letter that I first saw on Zimbio, which means that thanks to the NY Post, which as it turned out posted the letter first, it’s made it’s way around the Internet. But folks, this letter’s a doozy. Brace for impact:

What’s most galling about Brooke’s letter is that she would tell Marni Phillips that she wants to connect with her, after writing that Marni’s basically no good for Steve and she’s got “passion and drive to really do something with my life.”

The NY Post reports that Marni Phillips got a voicemail from Brooke stating “I care about Steve and make him happy and we both can’t have him.”

That’s nerve to an almost criminal level.  It could only be topped by instant messages from “Riotgirl4life” to Steve Phillips’ son, who believed it to be  Brooke Hundley because according to LaLate.com, the person was asking a lot of personal questions about the family.

The bottom line is Brooke fell in love and frankly the poor thing didn’t know what to do when the more experienced Phillips broke off the affair.  I write this because somewhere Brooke’s mother is crying that her daughter’s at the center of this, and wondering what she did wrong in raising her.

My answer is this: nothing.  Brooke made a mistake.  The whole episode where Marni Phillips complained that Brooke hit a trash can while backing out of the house was simply Brooke being afraid that she was going to get caught while leaving the letter.  I don’t think from reading all that I have that Brooke Hundley has a yen to hurt anyone. She’s reacting to feeling abandoned by Phillips, period.

But I do wish her parents would take her aside and let her know that they love her.  Somewhere in all this I have the feeling that’s what’s missing in Brooke’s life

The new story also revealed some shocking facts such as cyber-stalking one of Steve’s sons on the Facebook, barraging Marni with teasing phone calls and sending her acerbic messages etc.

Steve Phillips has put his job on the stake by disclosing his love-affair with Brooke Hundley through a statement to the ESPN production members that reads; “I am extremely sorry that my affair with Brooke put my family and colleagues in trouble however, its my personal matter therefore, I’ll not make any further comments.”

Plenty of fresh pictures of young production assistant Brooke Hundley have been aired and people are wondering as to why Steve cheated? Even Brooke has directly asked Marni in one of her letters that why Steve’s not honest with you, especially regarding his relation with me?” She continues to state, “I work with Steve and I am not an ordinary girl whom Steve’s hanging around for quite a while now.”

However, the ESPN officials claim that they were already aware of the issue but they were waiting for the right time to take action. Marni on the other hand, was indeed very terrified with the over-intervening and kind threatening approach of Brooke into her personal life. Her subsequent statements reflect her inner feelings evidently. For instance she said, “Being a mother of four young kids, I am terrified and I fear the safety of my family a great deal.” “I am taking safety precautions and acquiring Wilton Police security services.”

It was Rosa Rodriguez who put Phillips in deep trouble in 1998 when he was a general manager with Mets. Rosa spun his head by disclosing Steve’s sexual relations with her and suing him and his team for sexual harassment. Steve not only admitted the relation with Rosa but also with a number of other women while he was married to 19-year-old Marni. Bobby Valentine the former Mets’ manager took very serious notice of the issue and Steve Phillips had to leave the Mets.

“People are going absolutely wild about this concert,” said Christina Garcia, spokeswoman for the center, in a news release. “Our phones are ringing off the hook and the pre-sale tickets sold within minutes.”

Snug under a blanket next to the students San Diego resident Lizette Samaniego, 25, was determined to get floor seats to please her 4-year-old daughter, Saydee Galvan.

“Saydee wants to be Taylor Swift for Halloween, and I’ve already been to Laredo, the Valley, and San Antonio trying to find her a red dress like Taylor wore during the (MTV) music awards.”

She found a match in Alice, she said. “My daughter will thank me someday.”

Olga Fernandez, 19, and Felix Melendez, 18, darted at noon Thursday from their classes at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to wedge in line for tickets as Christmas gifts for their niece and nephew.

“We didn’t have the money for our own tickets,” Fernandez said. “So they will know how much we love them, sitting here all night, and not able to go ourselves.”

The couple had to be back in class by noon Friday, Melendez said.

The $61 tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for the 7 p.m. March 12, 2010 Taylor Swift concert with Kellie Pickler and Gloriana.

Even if tickets become unavailable, promoters open more seats as the concert approaches, Garcia said.

“There’s usually always single seats available,” she said. “So we don’t want the public to be alarmed thinking they can’t get tickets.”
